Guillermo Del Toro On His Notebooks

It should come as no surprise that talented and creative people prefer to use analog tools. One such person is Writer/Director Guillermo Del Toro. He loves notebooks, pens and paper and uses these tools daily.

The folks at Shot, Drawn & Cut had quite a conversation with Mr. Del Toro and one of the main things discussed was his use of notebooks, and other analog tools, to help realize his vision. They do talk about other things in the interview, but since this is a site about ‘The Analog Way’ we’re , of course, most interested in what he says about his notebooks and how they fit into his creative process.

It makes sense that a creative genius like Del Toro would use pen and paper to help turn his dreams into reality. With analog tools you never have to worry about a crash, a virus, a botched software update, a dead battery or anything like that. They just work.

Wait. I use pen and paper. Am I a genius too?
